In this series hand painted scarves include eight floral
designs. The outlines of the designs are first screen printed with white
or gold gutta paint. The silks are then hand painted using a fine brush
by highly skilled silk painters. Due to the fluent spread of dyes on silk
hand painting differs from the screen printing and produces a more bespoke
look. After hand painting the dyes are steamed fixed, the silk is rinsed
many times to wash off excess dyes and is treated with fabric conditioner
to add softness and luster.
